A lesson for America

If you've seen the news lately you know that a revolution almost happened in Iran this week. The issue: Free elections. In this case, the Ayatolla Khumeini declared the incumbent, Mahmoud Ahamdinejad, the winner before enough time had passed to reasonably count the ballots. The people of Iran, outraged at the obvious election fraud, took to the streets to protest. Technically, the protests you've witnessed on TV are illegal as only government sanctioned protests are allowed. The Ayatolla ordered the people of Iran to stop protesting. The order was ignored. Iranian people announced their willingness to die, if necessary, in order to support free elections. The Ayatolla then commenced physical action, including violence and murder, against the people of Iran. As far as we know, the only act of violence committed against the government during these protests was a suicide bombing. All things considered, it is probably safe to assume that if Iranian civilians had firearms, the citizens would prevail. The situation in Iran exactly why gun rights must be protected at all costs in the United States. An anti-gun bigot would respond predictably with something like, "That would never happen here." Denial is a typical tactic when debating the anti-gun left. They deny that a situation exists until its existence is too obvious to deny. Then they claim that it's too late to do anything about it now. You will see this tactic play out again and again in various political debates. Don't fall for it. Incredibly, many gun owners voted for Obama even though he had an anti-gun track record in his short political career. President Obama seems to be taking an indirect approach to attack firearm ownership. This includes:
The modus operendi of the Obama administration is clear: Ban guns by circumventing the legislative process. It absolutely can happen here and will if we allow it. It is much better to act now, than wait until - as the left likes to say - "It's too late." Keep banging the drum. Call in to radio stations, post on the internet, call your lawmakers. Don't let up.
