Another
Law Abiding Gun Owner Goes to Jail

Family Crest Catering, owned by David Crest of Hanover, Massachusetts had been robbed four times. Approximately $3,000 worth of goods and equipment had been stolen and an additional $4,000 had been embezzled. After the fourth robbery, it became apparent to Mr. Crest that the police could not prevent future robberies and future robberies seemed imminent. Since Mr. Crest could not reasonably continue to support his family while being robbed all the time, he decided to guard his store with his Mossberg 500 shotgun by his side. Sure enough, the robber came back. Mr. Crest ordered the robber to, "Freeze." Mr. Crest believed he had finally caught the culprit who had taken thousands of dollars in meats, alcohol, and equipment from the shop. He flicked on the lights and saw his head chef. The chef ran out the door and Crest fired several warning shots. Mr. Crest was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and illegally discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. The head chef was also arrested and will be tried by the same court. Mr. Crest may not be able to testify against the burgler as doing so would cause him to also testify against himself. Anti-gunners cry over and over again about how stricter gun laws are needed to prevent crime. Clearly, it was the armed citizen who prevented the fifth burglary of Family Crest Catering. And the gun grabbers have shown their true colors, once again, by going after the law abiding citizen. They took an upstanding, productive member of society and turned him into a criminal while simultaneously failing to protect Family Crest Catering from repeated robbery attempts. Punishing the law abiding gun owner is becoming commonplace in the United States. We saw it with David Olofson, Angel Shamaya, and Ronald Dixon to name a few. Where is the outcry for these people? If it can happen to them, it can easily happen to any one of us. And yet, the elected officials who claimed to support the Second Amendment are nowhere to be found. The most influential in the new media make no mention of the injustices done to these gun owners. Instead, they spend all night and day contemplating Hillary, McCain and Obama -- three candidates who could care less about what will happen to Mr. Crest or you, for that matter. The outcry must come from regular people like us. We need to set the agenda for the media by calling in to radio talk shows. We need to set the agenda for our representatives by flooding their offices with phone calls. And we need to inform people we know that, right now, a lawful American gun owner has no guarantee of protection under the Second Amendment. We cannot let this stand. Please take action today.
